Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson book review

The story follows the quest of the young Elisabeth Scrivener, she has been accused of a crime she didn't commit and is trying to find out the truth in order to clear her name.

The book was slow at the beginning, but it is definitely worth to keep reading, it picks up the pace around the middle and then it's delightful to read, the first part took me days because I got bored easily and kept putting the book down, but I read the last half in a couple of hours because I couldn't stop reading.

The narration was a bit confusing in several scenes, for example, one scene would mentions characters are sitting down having a conversation and suddenly one of the characters is standing up by the fireplace, and I'm like... "Wait... When did he stand up?" this is what I mean by the narration being confusing... you re-read the same passage again and it never mentions it standing up and walking to the fireplace, this bothered me 😐 I'm someone who pays attention to little details, and pictures the scenes in their mind, so up till that point in my mind they are sitting in the sofa and suddenly I have to rearrange everything and fill in the gaps...

The characters reminded me of Will, Jem and Tessa, from the Infernal Devices that's for sure.

I mean the kinda look like Will, Jem , and Tessa, right?

And the relationship between Nathaniel and Silas was also similar to that of Rhen and Grey from the Cursebreakers series, the whole boss employee that slowly has bled into a friendship that neither or one party refuses to acknowledge.

I can't believe this is a stand-alone because it has all the potential for a duology or trilogy, I definitely would read a sequel :) I fell in love with the characters, and the world building was fantastic, and the ending definitely left me craving for more.

If you are a fan of: The Infernal Devices, A Curse So Dark And Lonely, and Serpent & Dove, you'll definitely like this one!
